On the other hand, LWIR thermal imaging cameras are essential for nighttime driving, pedestrian recognition, and animal detection. Traditional thermal lenses are not designed for compactness; they are typically bulky and expensive, limiting widespread adoption. Metalenses fabricated with silicon materials can be produced using semiconductor manufacturing processes, offering high scalability and substantially lower costs, making thermal imaging lenses easier to integrate into automotive systems.
